How long is too long to let your kid believe in Santa?

Sorry for the spoiler headline for those of you who didn't know. James, just call your mom, she will explain everything.

I believed for a long time. I actually can't remember how old I was exactly but I was definitely the last of my friends to know. My cousin is 8, which puts her in third grade, and she doesn't know. And I think that is still legit? Especially because once the kids know it takes a little bit of the umph out of the day. Anyway, I fought kids tooth and nail in school when they were telling me it was just my parents. My dad went HAM with the theatrics of it all which didn't help my cause. But I wouldn't trade it for anything. Those years believing in santa were much more fun than the hell I am trapped in now.

I heard every man goes through four phases of life. You believe in santa, you don't believe in santa, you are santa, you look like santa. Love it. But since I wont have kids and will be dead soon, looks like I'm in the final phase already.
