Deprived.
NBA fans are deprived of about 21 chances of what are starting to feel like increasingly finite opportunities to watch Bryant play basketball. Bryant is deprived of the joy he clearly gets from the game. The Lakers could be deprived of roster flexibility if more than a third of their salary cap the next 2 1/2 seasons is devoted to a player who can't stay on the court. And it's looking as if his increasingly fragile body could deprive him of a chance to set the NBA's all-time points mark.
I actually love Kobe. I know that is kinda fucked up because I'm a Celtics fan, but sue me. When he went down last year, if the Lakers had any balls they would have amnestied him. And I wish they had. Instead of watching him hobble around missing forced jumpers trying to carry a shitty Lakers team in the brutal West I should be watching him as part of some massive big three battle the assholes in Miami.
The facts are he wants the 6th ring bad, to tie Jordan, but he doesn't want to pass Kareem's all time scoring record. He HAS to. If you disagree you're high. It's the only reason he gets up in the morning. He will play in the NBA until he breaks it. Even if that means he plays 10 more seasons averaging 3 points a game. He will break that record. So, if you're asking me, I hope he gets healthy, finishes his career strong, breaks the scoring record, and even wins a ring for a team other than LA. You only get to watch a player like this a few times in your life.
